This is a single malt Japanese whisky distilled at the Asaka Distillery, part of Sasanokawa Shuzo, and bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is the 2023 release of Yamazakura.
The whisky was matured in new American oak barrels, and its flavour runs to toffee and caramel alongside oak spices, cinnamon and black pepper. The texture is rich, with subtle cereal notes, and it finishes with a hint of dark chocolate and dry fruits.
