Yamazakura Asaka Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Single Cask Single Malt Japanese Whisky (70cl, 62%)

This is a single cask Japanese single malt from the Asaka distillery in Tohoku, bottled at cask strength in a 70cl bottle at 62% ABV. The spirit was distilled in January 2019 and spent its first 2 years in first-fill Bourbon barrels. It then matured for a further 2.5 years in second-fill Cabernet Sauvignon wine casks from Napa Valley in California. It was bottled in October 2024 as Batch 1, from cask 21247, and is non-chill filtered and of natural colour. Only 288 bottles were filled. It is described as a 'Ji-whisky', a local style akin to micro-distilling, and as having a complex, layered profile.
