This is a single cask Japanese single malt from the Asaka distillery, which was founded in 2016 in the Fukushima region. Its first single malt appeared in 2019, and this is a limited edition bottling of Yamazakura.
The whisky comes from one bourbon cask, where it rested for 3 years. It is bottled at 60% ABV, without added colour and without chill-filtration, and it shows the Master Blender's signature that the house plans to carry into future bottlings.
The nose offers yellow fruit, honey and vanilla. On the palate these continue, joined by candied orange and brioche. The finish fades slowly into malted cereals and dried fruits.
