A Japanese single malt from the Asaka Distillery in Fukushima Prefecture, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. Yamazakura means 'mountain cherry blossom'.
It is made with malted barley and spring water from the nearby Abukuma Mountains, and matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks.
The nose is floral, with pear, green apple and white blossom alongside vanilla, malt and gentle oak. On the palate, honey, apricot and toasted barley come with soft spice and a touch of citrus zest. The finish is clean and lingering, with vanilla cream, oak and a little pepper.
