Yamazakura "The First" is a Japanese single malt from Asaka Distillery in Fukushima, and the first full single malt release from the distillery. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
It was aged primarily in bourbon casks and bottled at a natural cask strength of 61% ABV, non-chill filtered and without added colour.
The nose combines floral honey, citrus peel and orchard fruits with polished oak and a hint of green tea. The palate is bold and oily, with apple compote, vanilla bean and ginger. The finish is long, with warming oak, white pepper and lingering fruit sweetness.
