Yamazakura The First Peated Japanese Single Malt Limited Edition (70cl, 50%)

Yamazakura The First Peated is a limited edition Japanese single malt from the Asaka Distillery in Fukushima, made by the Sasanokawa Shuzo Company. It is the distillery's first peated release, distilled from peated malted barley in small copper pot stills and matured in oak casks. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 50% ABV, non-chill filtered and natural in colour. The nose pairs gentle smoke with honey, ripe pear and vanilla, with oak and soft citrus behind. On the palate, sweet malt, toffee and spice lead to a subtle, earthy peat warmth, and the finish is long, with smoke, fruit and oak sweetness.
