Yellow Spot is a single pot still Irish whiskey, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is made from malted and unmalted barley, and takes its name from the spots of coloured paint once used to mark barrels. It was bonded and bottled by The Mitchells, a seventh generation family business in Dublin. The whiskey has matured for a full 12 years in three types of oak cask: American bourbon barrels, Spanish sherry butts and Spanish Malaga casks. The Malaga casks add an exotic sweetness. The nose has mown hay, cracked black pepper, nutmeg, clove oil and green tea, with honey and peaches. The palate brings honey sweetness, pot still spice, coffee, milk chocolate, crème brûlée and red apples. The finish is sweet, ending on red grape and dry barley.
