Yoichi Single Malt is made at Nikka's distillery on the coast of Hokkaido, in Japan. It has no age statement and is made from whiskies of various ages, bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle, in the distillery's direct coal-fired, peated yet fruity style.
The nose opens with mellow peat, then smoke, soot and salt, followed by candied citrus, black liquorice and spices. The palate is firm and powerful, with peat, smoke, spice, fruit and nuts, and chocolate in the middle. The finish is long and silky, with a salty, coastal freshness.
