Yoichi Woody & Vanillic is a single malt from Yoichi Distillery in Hokkaido, Japan, bottled at 55% ABV in a 50cl bottle. It is a distillery-exclusive limited edition that departs from the usual Yoichi house style, putting oak and vanilla to the fore.
The nose is led by vanilla bean, with wood spice of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg and a little apple and pear. On the palate, toasted wood and lingering vanilla come through, with clove and a grainy malt sweetness and a hint of orchard fruit. The finish is medium in length, with fading oak and vanilla and a drying touch of oak tannin.
