Young & Old is a blended whisky from Murray McDavid's Crafted Blend series, made from half malt and half grain. The malt side is Caol Ila together with a peated 'Peatside' malt, and the grain is North British.
It matured in three casks: bourbon, Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry. Just 607 bottles were filled.
The nose brings dark molasses, sweet peat and rich sherried fruit. On the palate it is oily, with charred fruit, a floral touch and dark peat. The finish is long and gently sweet, with soft molasses returning.
