1770 Glasgow Distillery Peated Release No. 1 is the first peated expression from the Glasgow distillery, bottled in 2019 at 46% in a 50cl bottle.
It was matured in a combination of first-fill ex-sherry casks and virgin oak, with the cask selection and blending aimed at balancing peat against sherry.
The nose opens with gentle smoke, caramel, dried fruit and a hint of coastal brine, with toasted oak and spice emerging over time. The palate pairs peat smoke with sherry sweetness, dark chocolate, raisins and dried figs, while the virgin oak adds vanilla, toffee and spice. The finish is long, with fading smoke, sweet dried fruit, black pepper and nutmeg.
