A rye whiskey from 291 Colorado Whiskey in Colorado Springs, distilled in a copper pot still and bottled at 50.8% in a 750ml bottle. The mashbill is 61% malted rye and 39% corn.
It is aged for one year in American white oak, then finished on toasted Colorado aspen staves. The distillery also adds finished beer from a previous run back into the next mash. It was named World's Best Rye at the 2018 World Whiskies Awards.
Cinnamon bark, rye bread and maple lead the nose. The palate brings brown sugar, lychee, citrus peel, rye pepper and dried red fruit. The finish is long, with lychee, dried cherry and dry tannins.
