2XO The Tribute Blend is a Kentucky straight bourbon blend from Dixon Dedman, who previously worked on reviving the Kentucky Owl brand. It comes in a 750ml bottle at 46% ABV.
It combines straight bourbons from two mash bills, one high-rye at about 35% rye and one low-rye at about 16 to 18%, each aged at least six years. Selected bourbons are then moved into new charred oak barrels at #3 and #4 char levels for a further nine months to a year. This is the "Two Times Oak" step that gives the brand its name.
The nose offers vanilla bean, candied nuts and cinnamon. On the palate come toffee, caramel, red cinnamon candy and black pepper, followed by a medium-long, spicy finish with tart berries, peach and barrel char.
