A.D. Laws Secale is a straight rye whiskey from Colorado, bottled in bond at 100 proof, or 50% ABV. This is batch A-18-S, and it is described as the first bottled in bond rye in Colorado's history.
The mash bill is 95% heirloom rye and 5% heirloom barley, fermented by the open-air sour mash method. The whiskey aged for over four years in new 53 gallon charred oak barrels, meeting the terms of the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897.
The nose offers sweet grass with mint, honey and brine. On the palate come cooling mint and fennel, sea salt, orange tea and brown sugar, before a rich, buttery finish with tobacco notes.
