Abbazia di Novacella Grüner Veltliner 2025 Alto Adige Valle Isarco DOC (75cl)

This is a 2025 Grüner Veltliner from Abbazia di Novacella, an Augustinian monastery founded in 1142, in a 75cl bottle. It comes from the Valle Isarco in Alto Adige, the northernmost wine valley in Italy. The vines grow at 600 to 900 metres on steep, terraced slopes of mica schist, paragneiss and quartzite. Ripening is slow, stretching well into autumn, helped by cool Alpine nights and warm days, and yields are naturally small. Expect mountain herbs, citrus zest and gooseberry on the nose, then white peach, lime zest and jasmine tea on the palate, with lively acidity and a clean finish.
