Aberlour A'Bunadh Alba is a cask strength Speyside single malt from a distillery founded in 1879, in a 75cl bottle. It is the first line extension of the A'Bunadh series.
Where the original A'Bunadh is matured in sherry casks, the Alba is matured entirely in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels. It is bottled non-chill filtered and with no added colour, and the barley is grown within 15 miles of the distillery.
The nose shows red apple, honeysuckle, vanilla cake, shortbread with caramel and a little jasmine. The palate is sweet and creamy, with poached pear, lemon curd, toasted coconut, nougat and baking spice. The finish is long, with vanilla, dark chocolate and roasted nuts.
