Adelphi Pulteney 2008 17 Year Old Cask #11 Refill Bourbon Hogshead (70cl, 51.6%)

This is a Pulteney single malt bottled by Adelphi at 17 years old, in a 70cl bottle at 51.6%. It was distilled in Wick in 2008 and bottled in 2026 from cask #11, a refill bourbon hogshead that produced 330 bottles. The used cask lets the spirit lead, with pear, citrus and a coastal saltiness through to the finish. The nose is fresh and coastal, with freshly cut pear, white chocolate, gorse, oyster shell and fizzing lemon powder. The palate has coconut biscuits, bitter lemon, bay leaf and a warm scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam. The finish is medium in length and effervescent, like Margarita salt on the lips.
