Alto del Carmen Pisco (75cl, 40%)

Alto del Carmen is a Chilean pisco made from 100% Muscat grapes, double distilled in small batches with Andean spring water. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle. The distillery lies in the Huasco River Valley in the Atacama Desert, at roughly 2,000 metres above sea level. After distillation the spirit rests for six to eight months in 200-litre American white oak barrels, which gives it a golden hue. The nose offers orange blossom, ripe pear, fresh herbs and spearmint, with butterscotch, toasted coconut and sultanas beneath. The palate is satiny, with white peach, honeyed citrus, nutmeg and vanilla. The finish is warm, with black cherry and plum and a dry, peppery close. It suits sipping neat or in a Pisco Sour.
