Amahagan World Malt Edition No.2 is a Japanese blended malt made at the Nagahama Distillery in Shiga, bottled at 47% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It has no age statement and belongs to a series built around blending.
The whisky is matured first in traditional casks, then finished in red wine casks, and the colour is a radiant amber. Sherry casks also add some influence.
The nose combines sweet malt and honeyed barley with muscat and tropical fruit, then red berries, plum and a touch of dark chocolate. On the palate a grainy sweetness is balanced by light astringency, with raisin and berry. The finish brings orange peel.
