Amahagan World Malt Edition Yamazakura Wood Finish (70cl, 47%)

This is a Japanese blended malt from Nagahama Distillery in Shiga. It starts from Edition No. 1, a blend of malt whiskies from several countries, and is then finished in casks made from Yamazakura, Japanese cherry wood. It is bottled at 47% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The finish in cherry wood sits alongside the malty sweetness of Nagahama's own malts, with a soft floral side. The nose is malty and sweet, with cherry blossom, orange peel and blackstrap molasses. On the palate it is sweet, with a hint of sandalwood, and it ends with a tannic dryness like black tea.
