Amrut – Cask Strength Indian Single Malt Whisky (70cl, 61.8%)

This is a cask strength Indian single malt from Amrut, in a 70cl bottle at 61.8% abv. The nose combines bourbon notes with rich barley, something like a caramelised biscuit dunked in coffee, with a spicy edge. On the palate, oak and barley sit closely together in a bitter-sweet style, with soft oils and a sharp note of blood orange that gives way to something buttery. The finish is long, with bourbon-like and then buttery oak, and a trace of dark sugar and cocoa.
