Amrut – Cask Strength (61.8%)

This is Amrut Cask Strength, an Indian single malt bottled at 61.8% ABV. The barley for this bottling comes from the Himalayan region and is malted before it travels to Bengaluru in southern India, where the whisky is made and matured in ex-bourbon casks. Bengaluru stands around 900 metres above sea level and stays warm all year, so spirit and wood interact more intensely than in cooler whisky regions, and roughly 11 to 12% of a cask's volume can evaporate each year. Juicy apple and creamy caramel meet walnut, leather and toasted oak.
