Amrut Indian Single Malt is made in the south of India rather than Scotland. It is distilled from barley grown at the foot of the Himalayas, with glacier water from the same mountains. The distillery takes its name from the Amrut of Indian mythology, the golden pot of the Elixir of Life that rose from the churned ocean.
On the nose it shows liquorice and bourbon notes with a bitter-sweet balance, alongside burnt honeycomb and toffee. The palate is rich, with barley and oak sweetness, liquorice and molassed sugar. The finish is long, with layered oak and a touch of cream toffee.
