Amrut Intermediate Sherry Indian Single Malt Whisky (75cl, 57.1%)

Amrut Intermediate Sherry is a cask strength Indian single malt from Amrut Distilleries in Bangalore, bottled at 57.1% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The name describes the route the whisky takes. It begins in ex-bourbon and virgin oak casks, spends the middle of its maturation in Spanish ex-Oloroso sherry butts, then returns to bourbon casks. The sherry is a middle stage rather than a finish, so its influence runs through the whole whisky. The nose brings port, candied cherries, vanilla and strawberry jam. Cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel and anise lead on the palate, and the finish is long, dry and oaky.
