Amrut Peated Cask Strength is an Indian single malt bottled at 57.1% ABV, at natural cask strength. It is distilled from Scottish peated barley at about 23 ppm and matured for four to six years in ex-bourbon and charred oak, in the warm climate of Bengaluru, where maturation is quicker.
The nose is led by peat, more sweet than smoky, with salted chocolate, brown sugar, apricot, date, orange and fresh pastry. The palate is full-bodied and oily, with vanilla, cooked plantains, date and peat smoke, then toffee, orange and lemon peel and pepper. The finish is very long and spicy, with dry oak, smoke, clove and salted caramel.
