Amrut Peated is an Indian single malt whisky from Amrut Distilleries in Bangalore, Karnataka. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle and is not chill-filtered.
Its smoke comes from barley peated and malted in Scotland. The whisky matures in oak barrels in a warehouse 3,000 feet above sea level, where Bangalore's tropical warmth speeds maturation.
The nose is dry peat smoke with old leather and a little citrus. The palate opens sweet, with molasses and caramel, before peat builds alongside malt and sweet-cure bacon. The finish is medium, with butterscotch, vanilla, fruit tea and a last wave of peat.
