Amrut Portonova is an Indian single malt bottled at cask strength, 62.1% vol, in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in port pipes, and the influence of the wood runs through the whole dram.
The nose is dense and pudding-like, with fruit and caramel merged together and a note of burnt apple pie. On the palate, spicy, jammy fruit sits among plenty of caramel and a salty oak edge. The finish is long and oaky, taking on a cocoa character before muscovado sugar replaces the berry fruit.
