Amrut Portonova is a cask strength Indian single malt from Bangalore, bottled at 62.1% in a 750ml bottle without chill filtration. It is distilled from Indian six-row barley.
The maturation runs in three stages: new American oak and ex-bourbon barrels first, then once-used Portuguese port pipes, and finally ex-bourbon casks again before bottling.
The nose offers raisin, dark berries and ripe grape, with dark chocolate and toasted coconut. The palate is thick and sweet with stewed fruit, cherry, plum and cinnamon, and the finish is long, with chocolate, clove and dried cherry.
