Amrut – Single Malt Indian Whisky (70cl, 46%)

This is a single malt whisky from Amrut, made in Bangalore, India, and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The heat of India is said to make whisky mature faster than in Scotland, and this one is reported to be under six years old. The nose shows liquorice and bourbon-like notes, with burnt honeycomb and toffee. On the palate there is a rich, glossy barley and oak sweetness, with liquorice and molasses sugar. The finish is long, with layered oak moving between sweet and dry, and a touch of cream toffee at the end.
