Angel's Envy 2023 Cask Strength Rye is a blended straight rye whiskey from Angel's Envy in Louisville, Kentucky, released each year in limited quantities. It is bottled at natural cask strength and is non-chill filtered.
Two rye batches are married to make it. One is finished for three years in Sauternes dessert wine barrels, while the other moves into new toasted oak barrels after its first maturation.
The nose offers honeyed rye spice, dried apricot, orange peel, toasted oak and vanilla. The palate is rich and spiced, with caramel, stone fruit, rye pepper and warm toasted wood. The finish is long, with lingering rye spice and a sweet wine character.
