Angel's Envy Port Barrel Finished Bourbon Cask Strength is a Kentucky straight bourbon, released annually and bottled at cask strength, without dilution, in a 750ml bottle. Strength varies a little by batch.
The bourbon is made from 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley and aged for up to six years in new charred American oak. It is then finished for anywhere from six months to three years in French oak ruby port barrels from Portugal. Recent batches also use some tawny port barrels.
The nose has leather, brown sugar and crème brûlée, with green apple and orange. The palate brings caramel, baked apple, pear, cinnamon and black pepper, and the finish is long and warming, with dry grape tannins.
