Ararat Erebuni is a 70-year-old Armenian brandy from the Yerevan Brandy Company, a house founded in Yerevan in 1887. It sits at the top of the Ararat range and is drawn from the oldest reserves in the company's cellars.
The brandy is made from native Armenian grapes grown in the Ararat valley, including Kangun, Voskehat and Mskhali, and matured for seventy years in Limousin and Armenian oak. The name comes from the fortress of Erebuni, built near present-day Yerevan in 782 BC.
In the glass it is deep mahogany. The nose brings dried tropical fruit, walnut and aged leather. The palate is silky, with dark fruit, warm spice and a honeyed depth, and the finish is very long.
