A 10-year-old Islay single malt from Ardbeg, in a 70cl bottle in the Dog Bone edition. It is bottled at 46% ABV and is non chill-filtered, rather than being reduced to 40%, which keeps more body and depth. The peat is balanced by the natural sweetness of the malt.
The colour is light gold. The nose brings smoky fruit, with peat, lemon and lime, waxy dark chocolate, menthol, black pepper and tar, then smoked fish and bacon. The palate is peaty and citrus-bright, with cinnamon toffee, brine, banana and currants, turning to espresso, liquorice and tarry smoke. The finish is long and smoky, with aniseed, toasted almonds and pear.
