This is a 17 year old Islay single malt from Ardbeg, matured in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is chill-filtered.
The 17 Years was first released in 1997 and discontinued in 2004. This renewed version is a Committee exclusive that follows the old, delicate peat profile of the original.
The nose is fresh and clean, with pine resin, aniseed, sea spray and lavender soap. The palate is creamy, with aniseed toffee, café latte, fennel and gentle antiseptic soap. The finish carries restrained peat smoke, chewy oak, cocoa powder and tar.
