This is Batch 5 of Ardbeg's Traigh Bhan, a 19-year-old single malt distilled on 12 February 2004 and bottled in 2023 at 46.2%. It matured in a combination of American oak and Oloroso sherry casks. It is not chill-filtered and has no added colour.
Traigh Bhan is Ardbeg's yearly small-batch series, named after the Islay beach known as the Singing Sands. The batch code is TB/05-12.02.2004/23.
The nose combines lush tropical fruit with herbal smoke, menthol pastille and saddle soap over charred green pepper, then smoked mango, guava and coconut. The palate is creamy, herbal and spicy, with smoked bacon and maple syrup, charcoal, white pepper and clove. The finish is long, with tropical notes, heather, warm toffee and smoked butter.
