A 32 year old single cask Ardbeg from Islay, distilled in 1973 and bottled from a bourbon hogshead on 14 October 2004 for the Italian market. It is bottled at a cask strength of 49.5% in a 70cl bottle, from an outturn of 219 bottles.
Gold in colour, it has a nose of tar, peat smoke, liquorice, wet hay, eucalyptus, camphor, lemon juice and fresh almonds. The palate offers espresso coffee, chestnut honey and plenty of peat, with salted liquorice, cloves, nutmeg and oak, turning medicinal. The finish is long, on chlorophyll, peat, liquorice and a pinch of salt.
