Ardbeg – 1974 28 Year Old Single Cask #3475 Cask Strength Islay Single Malt (70cl, 44.5%)

This Ardbeg was distilled in 1974 and bottled in 2002 after 28 years, from a single cask, number 3475, for Oddbins. It is an Islay single malt at a cask strength of 44.5%, in a 70cl bottle, and 126 bottles were released. The colour is gold. The nose opens on orange liqueur, rosewater and incense, then turns mineral, with almond, peat, mushroom, seaweed and smoke. The palate brings ham, camphor, pine resin, salt, citron, peat, marzipan, crystallised lemon zest and smoked fish. The finish is long and slightly resinous, with notes of pear.
