Ardbeg – 1975 29 Year Old Single Cask 4704 (70cl, 47.2%)

This is an Ardbeg single malt from a single Oloroso cask, number 4704, and an official bottling at a cask strength of 47.2%. It was distilled on Boxing Day, 26 December 1975, and bottled on 14 April 2005 at 29 years old, in an outturn of 270 bottles. The notes describe a sweet, smoky nose with tea, herbal tea, dried fruits such as banana, apricot and pear, coal smoke, garden bonfire, mint and camphor. The palate opens sweet with apple juice, fruit salad and pepper, then turns spicy, tarry and gingery. The finish is very peppery, with some grapefruit.
