This is a 21 year old Ardbeg called Seann Chreag, Scottish Gaelic for 'Ancient Rock'. The name draws on Beinn Bheigier, the highest hill in the south-east of Islay.
It is made with a high proportion of whisky from Oloroso sherry casks, together with whisky from bourbon casks.
Ardbeg's Master Blender Gillian Macdonald has described it as an older sibling to Uigeadail and a more refined version of it.
