Ardbeg – 23 Year Old Vintage Y2K

Ardbeg 23 Year Old Vintage Y2K is an Islay single malt from a limited series. It looks back to the year 2000, when the distillery was renovated and Dr Bill Lumsden and his team created a rare stock of whisky, blending modern techniques with old stills. The nose is herbal, sweet and fragrant, with distant perfumed smoke, lemon balsam, linseed oil and candied walnuts. Water brings out heather honey and a touch of creosote. The palate is fizzy and sherbety, sweet at first, then aniseed, toffee, peppermint, tar and coffee grits. The finish is long, with antiseptic lozenges, bitter oranges and oak tannins.
