Ardbeg 25 Year Old is an Islay single malt matured in bourbon casks, drawn from stocks filled in the 1990s, when the distillery was producing very small quantities. It was introduced in 2021 as the oldest age in Ardbeg's permanent range. It is bottled at 46% without chill-filtration, in a 70cl bottle.
The nose offers smoked cream, peppermint and toffee, with fennel, pine resin, distant earthy bonfire, banana and tropical fruit. The palate starts lively and peppery, then turns to lemon sorbet, candied apple, pear and orange, with hints of medicinal soap and tar, creamy toffee, aniseed and chilli. The finish is long and soft, with cream, fudge and light antiseptic notes.
