This is a 25 year old Ardbeg from Islay, bottled in October 2021 at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was distilled in the 1990s, when production at the distillery was small, and matured in ex-bourbon casks.
The producer describes a nose of smoked cream and earthy bonfires, with pine and fragrant candle wax. On the palate, hot pepper meets sherbet lemon sweetness, with hints of carbolic soap and tar. The finish is delicate, with aniseed, cream and fudge.
