Ardbeg Anthology 13 Year Old The Harpy's Tale is the first bottling in a series of three Anthology releases, a new experiment in Islay single malt. It is a 70cl bottle of Ardbeg blended from an ex-Sauternes cask and a bourbon cask, pairing the rich sweetness of Sauternes wine with the distillery's fierce smoke.
The nose is green and herbal, with green olive oil, heather wood, coriander, sage, lemon zest, wax and linseed oil, ending on crème brûlée. The palate is round and woody, with undergrowth, molasses, aniseed, roasted apricots and eucalyptus oil. The finish is long and intense, with cumin, cardamom and coconut.
