Ardbeg Anthology The Unicorn's Tale is a 14-year-old Islay single malt, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is the first release in Ardbeg's Anthology series, which explores unusual cask experiments with peated whisky.
It was matured in a mix of Sauternes wine casks and Ardbeg ex-bourbon casks, a pairing that softens the peat with honeyed fruit.
The nose combines sweet smoke and orchard fruit with vanilla, white chocolate and a little citrus. The palate is creamy and smoky, with toasted marshmallow, pear, smoked almonds, spice and sea salt. The finish is long, with honeyed peat, nutmeg and gentle oak.
