This is Ardbeg 'Auriverdes', an Islay single malt released for the Feis Ile festival in 2014 as a limited edition. It is bottled at 49.9% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon casks and specially toasted casks, and keeps Ardbeg's peaty character alongside some sweetness.
The nose brings smoky peat, honey and citrus zest with vanilla and toasted oak. The palate is full-bodied, with dark chocolate, green apple and spicy pepper. The finish is long, with sweet fruit, warming spices and lingering smoke.
