Ardbeg – Corryvreckan The Ultimate (70cl, 57.1%)

Ardbeg Corryvreckan is a single malt Scotch bottled at 57.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle, with a rich amber colour. The nose is big and tarry, with creosote, linseed oil, waxy dark chocolate, blackcurrants and muscovado sugar, then cherries and pine needles. Salty, briny seaweed and smoked bacon sit alongside sweet vanilla, cloves and blueberries. The palate is peppery and chewy, with seaweed, espresso, dark fruit, bitter almonds, star anise and a late note of chalky violets. The finish is long, with tarry black coffee, chocolate-covered cherries and chilli sauce.
