Ardbeg – Galileo 1999 Limited Release 2012 (70cl, 49%)

Ardbeg Galileo is a 12 year old Islay single malt released in 2012 at 49%, in a 70cl bottle. It is made from casks distilled in 1999, including ex-bourbon casks and some that spent their whole maturation in casks that previously held Marsala wine. Around 15,000 bottles were reportedly released. The name marks the experiment in which small quantities of Ardbeg were sent into space at the end of 2011, to see how they would mature in zero gravity. The Marsala casks are noted for adding sweet tropical fruit flavours.
