Ardbeg – Kildalton 2014 (70cl, 46%)

Ardbeg Kildalton is an Islay single malt, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It was made as a less heavily peated expression than the distillery's core range, and matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks. The name comes from the Kildalton Cross, an ancient stone monument on Islay, and it was first released as a limited edition. The nose is elegant peat smoke with honeyed citrus, orchard fruit and soft vanilla. The palate has creamy toffee, ripe pear, light spice and gentle maritime brine. The finish is long, with lingering smoke, sweet malt and delicate oak warmth.
