An Islay single malt released by Ardbeg in 2008 at 55.9% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It marks the revival of the distillery, which was closed between 1981 and 1989 and bought by The Glenmorangie Company in 1997. It is the first Ardbeg 10 year old made entirely after that takeover, and 21,000 bottles were released.
It matured mainly in ex-bourbon casks, with a smaller share in ex-sherry casks.
The palate starts smoky and spicy, followed by dark chocolate, roasted coffee, liquorice and a touch of candied lemon. The finish is long and warm, with lingering smoke, spice and a hint of sea salt.
