A single malt from Ardbeg on Islay, released for Ardbeg Day 2021 at 46% abv. The name comes from the verb to scorch, and the whisky is meant to recall the breath of the Islay dragon.
It matured in heavily charred American ex-bourbon casks, which Ardbeg's head of distilling and whisky creation credits for its fiery, smoky character.
On the nose it shows intense smoke and soot, with aniseed woven through notes of hardened steel and saddle soap.
